January 8—Day 4
7:21 a.m. Well, like I said in yesterday’s post, I was sound asleep by 9:00. And I slept well too, very sound and deeply—until 1:37 a.m. After lying there for an hour with brain fully alert, I decided just to get up and make use of my time. I read until about 4:30 (got a lot accomplished!). When I got back in bed, the sleep was strange. My body was still—didn’t move a muscle for the next 2 hours—but it’s as if I was in the twilight zone. And it was one constant, consistent dream. The funniest part is that three times during the dream I forgot I was fasting and put food in my mouth—first, a piece of chocolate candy, second, some deli meat, and third, bites of my favorite fast-food sandwich. I was very disturbed, until, each time, I was able to mentally remind myself—without moving a muscle that this was all a dream. Now if someone was to try and force feed my right now (but give me my choice of food) those three items would not even cross my mind, so I don’t know why they deserved a place in my dream. Anyway, I feel like I got enough rest. It’s typical for fasters to require less sleep—guess I’m entering that phase.
Lemon tea for breakfast and my powder green combo before church—I’ll juice fresh when I get home.
4:00 p.m. The juice really energized me. I went to a yoga class. The instructor did very basic, easy poses—mostly sitting or lying on the floor. It was perfect for me—relaxing, not taxing.
Not me:) |
6:30 p.m. I hit a wall of sorts late this afternoon. I’m tired—tired of preparing food, smelling food, being around food without being able to taste it. And yet, honestly, I’m not in the least bit tempted to taste food and end the fast. I guess it just comes down to being aggravated—pity party maybe?? Some things I’m noticing physically at this point:
Clothes fit better (Yeah!)
Eyes clearer and skin more radiant
No more carpel tunnel symptoms last night (my right hand usually goes to sleep many times during the night, left hand’s not as bad. I have the wrist split which helps some. But I had no symptoms even without the split.
Stay tuned. Hump Day tomorrow!!
